  1. Comment from Gary:

    In episode 7 you were talking about curse and syncing your addons between computers and i got thinking about it and came up with a free solution to the problem for you. I have been using a free net storage/sync service called Dropbox and mklink to sync my addon data and I just added my addon folder there too.

    First download and install Dropbox http://db.tt/vkutftFr (if you get the program from the link i get more space for free). When you are done you will have a new icon on the right side of your task bar. If you double click it it will open that directory like any other on your computer. Create a new directory for your wow stuff and move your addon directory into it. You can copy then rename the original just if you have concerns.

    Mklink ships with windows XP and 7, I don’t know of a way to do this if you are using anything else for an OS. What it does is create a symbolic link file so windows will look for the files in the original location but find them in the new location like a forwarding address.

    Step 2: Open a command prompt window and type:

    mklink /j “path to original dir” “path to dir in your dropbox dir’

    You will have to resolve the directory paths but put them in quotation marks. If you are like me and don’t like typing long paths and if you do are apt to make an errors right click and copy it from the properties box then paste it into the command prompt window.

    At this point you are done on your main computer and wow will run like normal all that is left is get the second computer ready. Install Dorpbox on the second computer the folder will automatically sync with the first computer. Now rename your addon directory and type in the mklink command again and you’re done. From this point on you can update your addons from either computer and as they change they will get pushed up to your storage space on the net. When you turn on the other computer it will check and download any files that have changed.

    I hope you find this useful and if you have any questions feel free to ask,

    1. This also works with Google Drive as well. I have setup my Interface and Screenshot folders up.

  2. Cool episode.

    When people in pugs, trade chat, lfr/lfg and the forums are being butt fedoras it’s important not to give them more ammo. I just try to kill them with kindness. Who knows what’s going on in their lives that making them act that way.

    Another thing I constantly have to remind myself is that there are kids playing this game. I always wonder how much of this Tom foolery is directly caused by immaturity due to age.

    Love the show guys. Keep em coming!

  3. Interesting topic but you failed to mention the number 1 rule. Don’t feed the trolls.

    To answer NotAnna’s questions;

    What is my role? Since I started playing WOW my role has changed. From starting out as a noob moving through causal player, hardcore raider, casually hardcore to now experienced player. I feel that my experience gives me a lot of knowledge that I want to share and contribute constructively to the community.

    How can I contribute? For sometime I have wanted to express my experiences and knowledge to the community but only have recently done so by starting a blog. Alaron from The Fluid Druid and Deededee from Sheep Moon give me the motivation to finally start it and I am enjoying it. I have found my niche in discussing Feral Druids.

    A great show and discussion. One thing I really like about your show is that I never know what topics are coming up which is always exciting. Keep them coming.
